Holiday Hair Tips

By Dennis E. Price

Questions often asked before a holiday trip is what do you do with your hair outside of your normal routine.

The biggest offender for holiday hair nightmares is the sea. We are all aware that there is salty water present when we swim away from shore which causes damage to our hair. The reasoning is that salt drains our hair of its natural oils often leaving it lank and pretty lifeless. A great idea would be to use special kinds of shampoo to help protect our hair from salt water damage making the end result shine like a new pin instead of looking uninteresting.

You can take a few hair masks with you on holiday in your suitcase as they do not take up much room. Apply them when you g after your swim in the evening and before long you will notice the difference. First of all apply to dry hair then rinse and apply to wet hair, easy process.

Next obstacle would be the pool area. Although the swimming pools do not contain salt they do however have chlorine which is worse than salt according to the experts. Coloured hair will become damaged and may even turn green if the pool has too much chlorine.

In this instance the chlorine would damage your coloured hair and possibly turning your hair green. A great way round this problem would be to use shampoos and conditioners which counter act any chlorine in the pool. Always rinse your hair and swimming costumes in warm water when you leave the pool.

Holiday makers forget about water from the tap when they arrive on vacation. They only remember once they arrive and start to panic about what they should do about drinking water. Holiday makers then forget that great damage can also be done to their hair by using the water supply from the tap.

Other countries tend to have hard water which is not suitable for drinking or cleaning your pearly whites. In those countries always use tap water to be on the safe side especially when rinsing your hair at the end of your shower for maximum effect.
